Coping with CFS/ME
This debilitating illness with its fluctuating symptoms of pain and accompanying depression can be helped by counselling. In the first place, regular contact with a counsellor to encourage you to recognise and manage your physical symptoms will help you to adapt or change the way you approach your life so that you avoid the typical 'boom and bust' energy patterns so common with this illness.
As face to face appointments are often difficult to keep or require levels of energy which might not be present at the time of the appointment, email counselling is ideal. Email counselling means you can write your emails at a time when you have the energy to do so (they can be written a little at a time). I respond to your emails at a mutually agreed time and you can read and re-read what I have written (avoiding the need to take everything in at one go), then write your response once again, at time(s) which suit you.
Our counselling can cover both the management of your lifestyle and any other issues you feel you would like to discuss with someone in complete confidence.
I have recently contributed to an article on managing CFS/ME for AfME's magazine. You can read it here
